Es una prenda muy particular que pasó de la minería a la calle y se han convertido en todo un clásico que vuelve a la pasarela urbana. Fue creado para los mineros norteamericanos a finales del siglo XIX, por el alemán “Levi Strauss”.  Se trata de una prenda de tela de loneta, holgada, práctica, resistente, y fueron llamados los “Levi’s Pants”.  A principios del siglo XX,  pasó a la indumentaria infantil por su resistencia a todo tipo de terreno y trato. Recuerdo claramente, como si fuera ayer, cuando de niño mis hermanos y yo llevábamos las bragas como le decimos en Venezuela. Eran de “blue jean” y las dejamos de usar no porque pasaran de moda sino porque seguramente al crecer ya no nos quedarían. Recuerdo también cuando mi hermana los llevaba durante su embarazo y además eran súper cómodos a la hora de la lactancia. Pero como tiene su momento ya a los 40 y tantos años no creo que los lleve nuevamente, al menos que tenga que hacer labores pesadas en casa. Eso se lo dejo a las mujeres a quienes se les ha dado la concesión de usarlos este invierno y verano. Los hay de diferentes colores, telas, cortos y largos.

THE DUNGAREES:

Las botas Chelsea o Paddock tienen raíces victorianas.

Su diseño se atribuye a J. Sparkes-Hall, zapatero a la reina Victoria. Fue utilizado tanto por hombres como las mujeres como zapatos para caminar. A mediados de 1950, un grupo de jóvenes artistas, directores de cine, y los socialistas fue llamado el ‘Chelsea Set ” por los medios de comunicación, e hizo que el nombre de’ Chelsea fuera sinónimo de una nueva manera de vivir y vestirse. Este grupo comenzó a usar las botas de Paddock y pronto comenzó a ser considerado como el último accesorio de ocio y por lo tanto cambió el nombre a las Botas Chelsea. Puede usarse con traje o con vaqueros.

También llamado school bag o morral, este importante accesorio forma parte de nuestras vidas desde que somos niños. La verdad no recuerdo cuando fue la primera vez que lo use porque simplemente ha estado conmigo desde tiempos inmemorables. Está muy moda y hay de diversos materiales, cuero, sintéticos y combinados, etc. Si bien es cierto es muy cómodo y donde prácticamente cabe todo lo que queramos, me llama la atención que hay una tendencia de muchos ejecutivos y caballeros, llevarlos cuando están vestidos con trajes. Este accesorio no se lleva de ninguna manera cuando usamos trajes, pues además de que no es el accesorio indicado, arruga los hombros y mal forma toda la chaqueta. Hay bellos y muchos maletines, de diversos materiales y de tantos diseños que provoca comprarlos todos, pero si realmente desea un morral, en tal caso, es mejor llevar uno de una buena firma y de cuero puro, y dejar los más deportivos para actividades fuera de la oficina.

La tradicional chaqueta bomber también llamada la MA-1

Tuvo su origen durante las Guerra de Korea (1951 – 1953) y de Vietnam (1955 y 1959). Sin embargo, fue popularizada en Inglaterra a finales de los 60, glorificada por los skinheads y los punks. Inicialmente, esta prenda era de nylon verde militar con un particular fondo naranja internacional reversible y era netamente masculina.

Sin embargo, esta indumentaria militar al pasar a la calle evoluciona y es en los 80’s cuando se reinventa, y ya no es solamente masculina sino que pasa al guardarropa femenino.

La clásica bomber MA-1, reinterpretada ahora lleva flores, estampados, que van desde tejidos lujosos como la seda terminando con el popular denim.

The traditional bomber jacket is also called the MA-1, and it was wore during the Korean War (1951-1953) and Vietnam (1955 and 1959). However, it was popularized in England in the late 60’s, glorified by skinheads and punks. Initially, this garment was military green nylon with a particular reversible orange background and was clearly  for men. However, this military garment was moved to the street, evolves and is in the 80’s when it is reinvented itself. This clothe is no longer just for men but passes to the female wardrobe. CUERPO OVALADO

Este es un ejemplo de un cuerpo femenino ovalado la cual tiende a la redondez. Se debe potenciar la parte superior. Usar colores monocromáticos, oscuros en armonía y líneas verticales. La indumentaria no puede ser muy holgada, pues aportarían más volumen.

Pueden ser náuticos, tassel (con borla), ante, etc. su variedad es infinita. Pero se trata de un calzado que aun siendo muy elegante no se debe llevar con traje. Este calzado es mÁs sport. Hace pocos días hable sobre la moda española, y justamente es aquí en España donde los caballeros llevan y usan un mocasín con traje de oficina. Si bien es cierto para muchos eruditos en materia de moda masculina, llevar unos mocasines con traje es un sacrilegio. Pero como la costumbre se hace regla, ya yo no me atrevería a decir que tal practica es un error, al contrario creo que rompe un poco con la formalidad y es ya un sello en la moda masculina española.

¿Sabes cual es el diferencia entre el vestido de cóctel y el vestido corto?

En muchos de mis talleres siempre me hacen la misma pregunta y siempre me consigo con la misma duda. El traje de cóctel y el traje corto van 2 cm por encima de la rodilla y 2 cm por debajo de la rodilla. ¿Es allí donde esta la diferencia? la diferencia no radica en el largo. La diferencia radica en que el traje de cóctel se lleva en la noche y el corto durante el día, por lo tanto, la tela del traje de cóctel es más rica mientras que la tela del traje corto debe ser más sencilla porque se lleva de día.

In many of my workshops always people make me the same question and doubt. Do you know the difference between cocktail dress and short dress? The cocktail dress length goes 2 cm above the knee and 2 cm below the knee. Is it the difference? The difference is not the length. The difference is that the cocktail dress must be worn in the evening and the short dress during the day, therefore, the fabric of the cocktail dress is richer while the fabric of the short dress is much more simple.

EL PAÑUELO DE BOLSILLO – POCKET SQUARE – POCHETTE

Pañuelo de Bolsillo

Es un complemento en el atuendo de todo caballero, y sus medidas van desde los 25 cm a los 40 cm. Fue Sir George Bryan Brummell quien lo impuso como moda. Puede llevarse con frac, smoking, americana o blazer, con o sin corbata, de seda preferiblemente aunque los hay de lana, lino, algodón, etc. Si se lleva una corbata, es recomendable no combinar el pañuelo con ésta, pero si que lleve alguna gama de color de la corbata, la camisa o los calcetines.
